Hi I'm Jack, I'm a user centred designer currently working in the UX consulting world for Hippo Digital - but I've not always been a UX designer. I originally trained as an industrial designer working on projects based in the physical world.
Finding the balance between strong UCD practice and pragmatism is at the centre of my philosophy as a designer. Working with numerous clients I've learnt how to walk the line of promoting user centred design, whilst understanding the needs and limitations of the business.
At the core of it I believe that good design equals good business.

July 2021 - January 2022 (6 months)
I was the UX designer for the team handling TalkTalks 'logged in' area of the website, with most of my time spent overhauling the Service Centre and their wifi troubleshooting tools.
March - July 2021 (4 months)
As a team of two UX designers and a UR we worked to completely redesign the whole NHS Give Blood app, allowing members of the public to book and manage blood donation appointments.
January - March 2021 (3 months)
I worked on NHS login as the second UK lockdown came to an end, working on the main authentication flows that verified UK citizens accessing the NHS app.

Hippo Digital is a digital services consultancy with a human-centred approach at the forefront of its values. As a UX Design consultant my role is to work within our clients multi-disciplinary teams to design and deliver digital outcomes.
July - December 2020 (6 months)
I returned to Innovia Technology as a Design Consultant where my main responsibilities were to run workshops and ideation sessions, and visualise concepts.
March - September 2019 (7 months)
My role was to work across multiple projects providing concept sketching, CAD and CMF prototyping, and workshop support - including an international client workshop in Switzerland.
March - August 2018 (6 months)
My internship introduced me to the world of design consultancy, helping me gain professional experience and develop my skills in sketching, 3D modelling software and digital visualisation.
1st class honours
I spent 4 years up in Newcastle studying industrial design, learning the ways of user centred design and honing my fundamental design skills.
My industrial design final major project 'Cerberus' won recognition at New Designers in my graduation year.
A busy year both on client side and internally within Hippo saw me recognised by the board for my contribution at the Hippo awards evening.
